     The sides of a square region, measured to the

         nearest centimeter, are 6 centimeters long. The

         least possible value of the actual area of the

         square region is

A.36.00 sq cm

B.35.00 sq cm

C.33.75 sq cm

D.30.25 sq cm

E.25.00 sq cm

The answer is C, but i got B.

Because we can suppose the side is 5.5, so nearest centimeter will be 6. So the square of 5.5 is 30.25 sq cm. Am I right?

5.5 is the smallest mumber that can be rounded to 6.

Thus, the smallest possible area of the square should be 5.5*5.5=30.25. Why is the answer C?? 

我认为该题应该是E,

尽管正方形的边长在[5.5,6.5)区间内,5.5是最小值,但是值最小不代表概率最小,这是两个概念.

正方形的边长可在[5.5,6.5)范围内任取一个值,总的取法为N,并且N→+∞,那么任何一种取法的概率(即可能性)都为1/N.
这是等可能事件,所以A,B,C,D的可能性相等,全错.

只有E的概率为0,可能性最小.

这句话是说最小的可能的值吧？这样理解应该是Ｄ．如果说是可能性最小的值，那应该是Ｅ．不过我觉得Ｅ应该说不通

"least possible value"理解为"最不可能的值"还是"最小的可能值"? 题目都有歧意了......

不过,我觉的应该是指"最不可能的值", 如果要表达后一种意思,应该改用smallest才对啊.

一般我们在比较"值value"的时候,不用less和more,而是用bigger和smaller的吧?! 只有在比较sth时才用more和less的,不是吗?

在做数学题时，很多value啊，amount啊，印象中，比较少用到bigger和smaller来修饰，通常见到的是least，lesser，greatest什么的，例如：least common multiple, greatest common divisor
