每个学校的waitinglist政策是很不一样的，很不好说最后有多大希望还取决于你在waitlist上的排名，而这个排名你又不得而知。

勉强TOP50的某校，2/3会有奖，电话面试感觉很不爽，主要是加班18小时，口语都不溜了。给我WAITING LIST后，又说最近有校友在上海，叫我去面谈一次。郁闷啊。

你可以试一下主动和校友联系，还有给学校写一封信，再表明一下你对学校的喜欢。

If one is put on a wait list by a top-20 MBA school, what is his/her chance of being admitted? It seems a school will not make final decisions on selecting wait list candidates until it completes processing all round candidates. So, it will be around June or July 2004 for the 2004 fall term. Does anyone have wait list experiences? Is there anything that a candidate can do if he/she is on the wait list?

Normally, if u are waitlisted, u need to sumbit additional essays to address the weakness u think is in your previous submitted essays or in the interview. And, you can submit additional recommendation letters.

No one can tell u the chance of getting off the waitlist, different schools have different policy.

How does an applicant know what adcom was thinking? Is it normal to submit additonal materials without school's request for them.

I heard it might be even related to your background. Different schools may have different preferences. It may not be easy to nail down your weakness (in the eyes of the adcom). Then your additional materials will not be effective. Perhaps, the candidate should move on...

Yep, you don't know what the adcom is thinking about, so you have to dig deeply in your own application package and use your own judgement to address the problem. You may wrong about the weakness, then you will lose the game.

It's a very hard process. All things are uncertain, besides the chance of getting off the waitlist is slim. You are right that some schools do not require additional information, what you can do is waiting.
