I happen to know a few guys from P&G. Being with such a great company will do no harm to your application, but whether it is helpful depends on how you approach your work and your application. I have seen P&G marketing people went to Harvard and Wharton. I have also seen P&G marketing people went to nowhere. I don't mean to be harsh, but don't over price yourself only because you are from marketing. On the other hand, ABM is just fine. In my opinion, job titles and functions matter only to a very small degree. At the end of the day, if you are really strong in leadership, you don't really need a leadership position to deliver your impact. I have been told many times that MBA application is more art than science. Factors like luck or randomness are always involved. Don't take it personally but do take it seriously. This is a game that the best positioned, not necessarily the strongest, survive. The good news is: your marketing guys/gals are the best at positioning. So go ahead, and good luck. |
