就是说the chemical that is irritating it是对的，只是不简洁，
那it 代指什么呢？

这个句子应该是这样吧organism’s trying to metabolize the chemical that is irritating it，or render harmless the chemical that is irritating it，翻译了一下，生物组织将化学刺激物（刺激它）代谢化的努力，或者将这个化学刺激物（刺激它） render harmless
所以我觉得应该是指代这个organism吧···翻译的很恶心，见谅

the chemical that is irritating it是正确的话，it 还是指代organism。
就是这种化学物质会刺激organism
翻译就是：在几乎每一个动物物种的所有类型的组织里，dioxin促进了一种酶的合成，这个过程实际上是组织在试图分解化学刺激剂。
觉得是正解~

我也觉得是指代organism
但是记得看以前的帖子的时候有看到说代词不能指代A'B中的A，但是可以指代A of B中的A，这里正好是前一种形式

我也好像看过楼上所说的情况，it不能指代A'B 中的A，那这样看来it是指代tissue吗?

这句话看了半天一直觉得不通顺，有NN能解释下答案E中，the chemical irritant 这个是什么成分呢？是render的宾语吗？那么harmless在这里又是什么成分呢？难道是修饰chemical irritant的定语吗？
