In general, the feeling I got from recruiting seems like S&T division dont have a strong preference for MBAs/Masters because 1) BB dont have that many turnover at the associate level, hence there is no strong need to recruit at that level. 2) They prefer to recruit undergrads to MBAs/Masters because they are less expensive and are as fresh as most MBA/Masters (ie no experience in S&T).
问：似乎NYU Stern都是去IBD的占大多数，是大行trading方面从MBA招的少，更prefer MFE所以机会较少吗？ 答：Yes it is true that more Stern MBAs (even other MBA schools), are going into IBD than S&T because 1) There is a much larger demand for MBAs in IBD, 2) Also there is generally a larger interest in IBD than S&T. I am biased and will say BB prefer MBA to MFE because 1) Stern is a top finance school, and BBs know that, 2) MBA students have stronger soft skills due to the greater variety of subjects that they take at school, 3) lastly, perhaps most MBA students have some number of working experience, hence will be more matured. BUT, I can see why BBs might also think MFE is good, because MFE is more technical and numbers-driven. So depends on what skills you want to build, if you feel like you come across very personable and have strong soft skills, go to a well-known MFE school and recruit, if you feel like you already have a strong quant background, go to a MBA school to improve your soft skills. But note, at the end of the day, BBs wil need to like you to want to give you an opportunity, so as long as you are in 1 of their target schools, you have the chance to impress them when you meet them. Oh lastly, if you are solely interested in being a trader, you might want to consider an MFE over an MBA, just because Trading is more quantitative than Sales.

问：能简单介绍下NYU Stern对于想要做Trading的同学的资源吗？一般进去的是做哪类产品较多？ 答： 1）资源：教授和课程很多，此处不赘述。俱乐部方面，除了GFA以外，Stern还有个Sales & Trading Club，一定要参加。 Stern's S&T club organizes speaker events, notify members of trading competitions, mock interviews from MBA2s that went through the process to guide you through recruiting. Club officers/members who previous worked in trading or spent their summer interning at a BB trading desk are more than helpful in answering any questions regarding their experience and expectations. 对了，上次我们组织HK Trek，一行人马到了香港以后，发现BB里面Trader alum不比IBD的少，而且很热心，组织我们参观trading floor, etc. 2）Depending on the BBs, their program ranges from rotational to a direct placement onto a desk. You can highlight your interests, but it depends on business needs too.
