感觉这两种表达总是有区别的,可又说不出来到底是哪里有不一样。
请明白的同学讲讲吧~

回mm,我也是东搜搜西看看...半瓶子醋。。。
以下摘自Ron

Siying What's the difference between "derive" and "are derived"?
--
This is one of VERY few verbs whose meaning isn't verv different between active
and passive forms.
X derives fmm Y -> Y is the source of X (general statement of fact)
Sugar derives from sugarcane.
Species X derive from species Y (through evolution)
X is derived from Y -> this is actually performed (usually by people)
Sugar is derived rom sugarcane ->True (people do this)
Species X is derived from species Y -> Doesn't make sense, unless you are talking about literally making species in a lab.

还有一种解释是,prove是系动词,和sound什么的一样都可以用主动表示被动...

另外看看这个帖子会不会有启发,
adj n vs n to be adj
形容词描述的是名词的内在属性,不定式描述的是被赋予的属性。

其他的...再听听mm的想法

据说yake大树研究过,结论是:similar to "derive" vs. "be derived" - a distinction between active and passive voices.

谢谢大树~~大树研究得真透彻,学到了!那个derive的问题是我问Ron的,可我咋就没把prove和derive联系起来呢,很多东东都是相通的。

no, 'to be sighted' is better for at least two reasons.

(1) 'first NOUN to be VERBed' is generally the preferred form in discussing the results of human efforts/actions/interference/perception/etc., while 'first VERBed NOUN' is generally used to indicate inherent qualities of the noun.
for instance, the following sentence is preferred:
henry bishop was the first musician to be knighted by a british monarch. --> knighting is performed by humans
the following is NOT preferred:
henry bishop was the first knighted musician in britain. --> this makes it seem as though being 'knighted' is an inherent quality with which henry bishop was born, or that he acquired it naturally/accidentally in some other way

(2) the word 'sighted' means 'having the sense of sight', so this sentence also contains the amusing alternative interpretation of referring to a pulsar that can actually see.

from ron:
"proved" can also be an active-voice verb, especially in reference to descriptive qualities.
e.g.
John, who had always bragged the most about his fighting abilities, proved to be the most cowardly person in the group when actual threats arose.
or
my efforts proved insufficient, and i returned home without winning the prize.
