我觉得比较的不是2个时间状语，而是2个句子

还原就是

LJ was less successful after she emigrated  to New York than she had been in her native Germany

两种状态的比较

我唯一纠结的是，什么时候 这个“she had been” 可以省略

LJ was less successful in New York than in her native Germany   这样是可以的

LJ was less successful after she emigrated  to New York than she had been in her native Germany  为什么这样的时候，she had been 不能省略呢？

umm...需要用had been来表示be in her native Germany发生在emigrated以及主句动作earned之前。

看完斑斑的解释我还是觉得是状语比较~回答完毕~不知道对不对..反正把自己说服拉~算是解决^^

OG里说A错的一个原因是"creat a comma splice if the comma is not followed by a conjuction."
可是这里明明可以理解为：句子1，句子2，and句子3嘛。。。——我这种说法怎么不对？

没有见过“句子1，句子2，and句子3”此种结构啊，只见过“比较成分1，比较成分2，and比较成分3”
如果有例句，希望能贴出来看看~~

怎么能是状语比较呢？如果是的话那E就也有可能了？

弱弱的问一下，nevertheless是表示转折吧，所以不能although一起出现？怎么判断是连词还是副词呢，看在句子中的位置？

nevertheless这里是副词吧，连词是连接句子的，只能是“句子A，连词+句子B”吧。
另外，小猪所说的E，即使是状语比较，E也不能选啊，逗号不能连接句子的。
