不知道这些题怎样,试验一下哈哈~

1. When three Everett-owned Lightning-built airplanes crashed in the same month, the Everett company ordered three new Lightning-built airplanes as replacements. This decision surprised many in the airline industry because, ordinarily when a product is involved in accidents, users become reluctant to buy that product.
Which of the following, if true, provides the best indication that the Everett company's decision was logically well supported?
(A) Although during the previous year only one Lightning-built airplane crashed, competing manufacturers had a perfect safety record.
(B) The Lightning-built airplanes crashed due to pilot error, but because of the excellent quality of the planes there were many survivors.
(C) The Federal Aviation Association issued new guidelines for airlines in order to standardize safety requirements governing preflight inspections.
(D) Consumer advocates pressured two major airlines into purchasing safer airplanes so that the public would be safer while flying.
(E) Many Lightning Airplane Company employees had to be replaced because they found jobs with the competition.

Key:B
2. Robot satellites relay important communications and identify weather patterns. Because the satellites can be repaired only in orbit, astronauts are needed to repair them. Without repairs, the satellites would eventually malfunction. Therefore, space flights carrying astronauts must continue.
Which of the following, if true, would most seriously weaken the argument above?
(A) Satellites falling from orbit because of malfunctions burn up in the atmosphere.
(B) Although satellites are indispensable in the identification of weather patterns, weather forecasters also make some use of computer projections to identify weather patterns.
(C) The government, responding to public pressure, has decided to cut the budget for space flights and put more money into social welfare programs.
(D) Repair of satellites requires heavy equipment, which adds to the amount of fuel needed to lift a spaceship carrying astronauts into orbit.
(E) Technical obsolescence of robot satellites makes repairing them more costly and less practical than sending new, improved satellites into orbit.

Key:E
3. Since the deregulation of airlines, delays at the nation's increasingly busy airports have increased by 25 percent. To combat this problem, more of the takeoff and landing slots at the busiest airports must be allocated to commercial airlines.
Which of the following, if true, casts the most doubt on the effectiveness of the solution proposed above?
(A) The major causes of delays at the nation's busiest airports are bad weather and overtaxed air traffic control equipment.
(B) Since airline deregulation began, the number of airplanes in operation has increased by 25 percent.
(C) Over 60 percent of the takeoff and landing slots at the nation's busiest airports are reserved for commercial airlines.
(D) After a small midwestern airport doubled its allocation of takeoff and landing slots, the number of delays that were reported decreased by 50 percent.
(E) Since deregulation the average length of delay at the nation's busiest airports has doubled.

Key:A
4. Laws requiring the use of headlights during daylight hours can prevent automobile collisions. However, since daylight visibility is worse in countries farther from the equator, any such laws would obviously be more effective in preventing collisions in those countries. In fact, the only countries that actually have such laws are farther from the equator than is the continental United States.
Which of the following conclusions could be most properly drawn from the information given above?
(A) Drivers in the continental United States who used their headlights during the day would be just as likely to become involved in a collision as would drivers who did not use their headlights.
(B) In many countries that are farther from the equator than is the continental United States, poor daylight visibility is the single most important factor in automobile collisions.
(C) The proportion of automobile collisions that occur in the daytime is greater in the continental United States than in the countries that have daytime headlight laws.
(D) Fewer automobile collisions probably occur each year in countries that have daytime headlight laws than occur within the continental United States.
(E) Daytime headlight laws would probably do less to prevent automobile collisions in the continental United States than they do in the countries that have the laws.

Key:E
5.The following appeared in the opinion column of a financial magazine:
“On average, middle-aged consumers devote 39 percent of their retail expenditure to department store products and
services, while for younger consumers the average is only 25 percent. Since the number of middle-aged people will
increase dramatically within the next decade, department stores can expect retail sales to increase significantly
during that period. Furthermore, to take advantage of the trend, these stores should begin to replace some of those
products intended to attract the younger consumer with products intended to attract the middle-aged consumer.”

30s
P: The company replaced the crushed airplane lights with new lights.
C: The customers will not buy the new light again since the products are involved in the accident.
S: Other reasons.
A: B (做过)

23s
P: The astronauts can deal with the repair for the satellites.
C: the satellites must carry the astronauts to repair the satellites regularly, otherwise, the satellites will malfunction.
W: The satellites can be easily repaired by sending a new one.
A: E (这道题是OG上的吧)

20s
P: The deregulation increased the take-off and landings to 25% for the busiest airports.
C: So the landings and take-off airlines have been scheduled to allocate to commercial airports.
W: Commercial airports have been totally occupied already or other reasons.
A: A (做过阿)

25s
P: The headlights are used in countries that are farther from the equator.
P: The only country which has such laws is far from equator is US.
C: The headlights wouldn't be as effective as these in other countries with such laws.
A: E

1.19s
Premise: three LB airplanes crashed in the same month, then E bought three LB new ones.
Conclusion: the decision surprised many companies
Premise: because that ordinarily if a product is involved in an accident, company will don’t buy it any more
Strengthen: (B) The Lightning-built airplanes crashed due to pilot error, but because of the excellent quality of the planes there were many survivors.

2.20s   貌似以前见过,og?
Premise:satellites are important and can be repaired only in the orbit
Additional premise: satellites without repairs will malfunction
Conclusion: government should continue to send astronauts to the space
Weaken: other factors will cost more
Answer: (E) Technical obsolescence of robot satellites makes repairing them more costly and less practical than sending new, improved satellites into orbit.

3.忘了计时了,感觉以前做过~?
Premise: deregulation of airlines result in a increase in delays
Conclusion: more slots should be allocated to commercial airlines
Weaken: private airlines result in most of the delays  印象中有道题,貌似就是这么削弱的~
Answer:(A) The major causes of delays at the nation's busiest airports are bad weather and overtaxed air traffic control equipment.

4.29s 毛毛分类里,做过三遍的题,印象深刻~
Premise: use of headlights can prevent collisions
Counter-premise: use of headlights is more effective in countries that farther from the equator
Premise: 有此法律的国家离赤道比美国里赤道更远
Main conclusion: use of headlights is less effective in United States than in other countries
Answer: (E) Daytime headlight laws would probably do less to prevent automobile collisions in the continental United States than they do in the countries that have the laws.

conclusion- the conpany bought another 3 same airplanes to replace the previous 3.
guess support- the airplanes were not the primary causes of the accidents.
B

2. 21s
premise-robot stella needs astronauts for periodic repair.
conclusion-air flights sending astronauts must continue.
guess weakening-no idea....
E

3. 38s

conclusion- busiest airport hour give to commercial flights.
guess weakening- no idea...
不小心刷到答案了,不算。。。A

4. 1:12s...
premise- law requiring headlight in the daytime can prevent collision
premise- it is most effective to prevent car collision for countries that's far from equator.
premise- the only country that has this law is a country thats far from equator than the US is.
guess conclusion- countries far from equator should adopt this law.
