The interview is a crucial stage in the admissions process and our chance to ensure that you are a right fit for the School and the School is the right fit for you and your future career aspirations.
In collaboration with the admissions team, we’ve come up with some tips for interview success:

Preparation
* interview is your chance to expand on your application and demonstrate that your GMAT scores and essays are only the start of your qualifications. However, do review your application thoroughly to remind yourself what you wrote

1. Read the business news, particularly relating to your industry sector and be prepared to discuss trending topics in relation to your profession

1. Where possible consider something that the interviewer will not have been made aware of in relation to your career, such a promotion or a new project

1. Be prepared to demonstrate that you have been proactive in your research of the programme and have had useful interactions with the School

1. Thoroughly research the School, its culture and its values, as well as the University, its colleges and what they represent

1. If you have received notification as to who will be interviewing you, conduct some research into them

1. Research potential interview questions and prepare your responses. There are plenty of articles and forums discussing business school interviews on the Internet.

1. Be prepared to discuss why you want to do an MBA, how it will support your career aspirations, and why you want to study at Saïd Business School

The interview

1. This may sound obvious, but arrive on time and wear business attire. We’ve had candidates arrive in jeans – causal attire is not appropriate

1. Every interviewer has his/her own style, but remember this is not a job interview. Your interviewer will want to get the best out of you, so be relaxed, but professional and not overly formal

1. Don’t dominate. Your communication skills will be assessed, but that does not require you to lead the interview

1. Don’t just repeat the content of your essay and application – this is your chance to showcase your achievements and experiences. Expand on what the interviewer already knows about you

1. Raise the subject of any weaknesses in your application, such as a below average GMAT score, low GPA degree or gaps in your career. Be prepared to explain the reasoning and how you will compensate for them.

Remember the interview process is designed to allow you to demonstrate who you are and what you will bring to the MBA. We want you to be successful, so be confident and don’t let your nerves get the better of you.

Good luck!
